El Segundo, CA (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill will officially miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season after undergoing hip surgery on Wednesday.

The operation, performed in Nashville by Dr. Thomas Byrd, included the removal of loose fragments in Hill's left hip as well as to repair a torn labrum. The fourth-year pro also had a microfracture procedure that is expected to sideline him around six months.

Hill, who was averaging a career bests of 6.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in 29 games prior to the injury, has been out of action since Jan. 6.

A first-round pick (8th overall) of the New York Knicks in the 2009 draft, Hill was acquired by Los Angeles in a trade with Houston for veteran point guard Derek Fisher last March. The 25-year-old was re-signed to a two-year contract by the Lakers this past offseason.
