Irving, TX (Sports Network) - Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia on Thursday.

The eighth-year veteran and four-time Pro Bowler has been limited to just six games this season due to several injuries, recording 16 tackles.

The Cowboys did not release whether they will place Ratliff on the injured reserve list, leaving open the possibility he could return if the team makes the playoffs.

A seventh-round selection out of Auburn in 2005, Ratliff has spent his entire career with Dallas, amassing 228 tackles and 27 sacks over 104 games.
