Top-seeded Marin Cilic moved past fourth- seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber and into Sunday's final at the Bank Austria Tennis Trophy.

Cilic downed Kohlschreiber 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to join seventh-seeded Jurgen Melzer, who rallied past Serb Janko Tipsarevic 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

Melzer owns his only title at a clay-court tournament in Bucharest three years ago. The crown favorite became the first Austrian to reach the final here since Thomas Muster in 1995. He will try to become the first Austrian winner here since Horst Skoff in 1988.

The top-seeded Cilic is in his way. The 13th-ranked player in the world won way back in January at the Chennai Open then took a title during the first week of February at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors.
